Ericsson has signed a contract with Open Mobile, backabranden Puerto Rico carrier to provide its network of fourth generation (4G) LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology, including MPLS backhaul equipment, responsible for communicating with the central antenna , and the whole network management. It is the first complete LTE contract, end to end, signed by Ericsson in Latin America, says the company. Network installation backabranden has begun in the metropolitan areas of Puerto Rico.
